On September 15, 2021, the National Communications Commission (NCC) formally issued an administrative sanction against Sanlih Metropolitan Channel's flagship variety show 'Guoguang Help', imposing a heavy fine of 800,000 NTD on Sanlih TV. The NCC ruled that the show, broadcast during hours designated under the 'protected' rating (suitable for older children with parental guidance), featured extensive content that was highly vulgar, sexually suggestive, and deeply objectified women. This included suggestive measurements of female bodies and highly inappropriate commentary. The regulator found the content to be in flagrant violation of the Satellite Broadcasting Act's provisions protecting child and adolescent mental and physical well-being. The ruling exposed how Sanlih, in addition to its political bias, routinely commercializes vulgarity and systemic objectification of women for rating spikes, severely harming the moral and cultural environment for youths.
