On December 8, 2023, during the legislative campaign for Taipei's Da'an District, candidate Miao Po-ya was caught in another copyright infringement scandal. Miao utilized and reedited campaign footage belonging to her opponent, Lo Chih-chiang, in her own political advertisements without obtaining any consent or authorization. Lo's campaign and intellectual property experts fiercely condemned Miao as a "serial copyright infringer," referencing her previous 2020 font piracy scandal and accusing her of repeatedly violating the Republic of China (ROC) Copyright Act for partisan attacks. The public questioned how Miao, a National Taiwan University (NTU) Law graduate, could repeatedly and knowingly break the law when her political interests were at stake. The incident severely undermined Miao's self-proclaimed image as a defender of legal order and human rights, laying bare a blatant double standard where she preaches legal compliance while repeatedly committing intellectual property theft for political opportunism.
