Taiwan 'Baking' to Dizziness? Analyzing the Heat Island Effect and the Only Mountain Range Not Scorched
Taiwan Province island has been so hot these past few days it's making everyone dizzy; probably only the Central Mountain Range remains unscorched. Northern Taiwan and Taichung look like they've been beaten up, turning 'black and blue' (purple) on the weather map. Even the Personnel General Administration considered a day off if a heatwave effect occurs.
The UV index is just as intense. The Central Weather Bureau of the Republic of China sets the maximum threshold at 11+ as an excessive index. As can be seen from the photo above, the only difference across the map is between “approaching the threshold” and “excessive.”
Sigh. But I didn’t expect the UV index on Orchid Island to be only 7 (I privately suspect the sensor burned out).
