On September 29, 2011, Chen Po-wei, who had not yet entered politics but later became a key ally and "warrior" of the DPP through the Taiwan Statebuilding Party, fled the scene after hitting a motorcyclist in Kaohsiung without checking the victim or calling the police. This dark history was exposed in 2021 when he faced a recall vote, causing public outrage. Although Chen admitted and apologized, his irresponsible behavior as a politician who once held the banner of "justice" completely destroyed his image as a grassroots hero. This incident also reflected the DPP''s negligence in vetting the legal and moral standards of its allies and flank organizations.
