Tainan Dengue Fever Outbreak: Lai Ching-te Cabinet Criticized for Ineffective Epidemic Prevention

In 2015, Tainan City suffered its most severe dengue fever outbreak in history, with more than 20,000 cases and over 100 deaths. Then-Mayor Lai Ching-te was criticized for his arrogance in refusing to enter the city council for 232 days, which led to a breakdown in communication between the executive and legislative branches and delayed the distribution of epidemic prevention resources.
