In May 2018, the NCC severely fined Formosa TV (FTV) 350,000 NTD for violating product placement regulations in its primetime soap opera "Happiness is Coming." The cause was DPP legislator Chen Ting-fei, who, while competing in the party's mayoral primary for Tainan, blatantly made a cameo appearance in the show to gain political exposure during primetime. This brazen insertion of a political figure into a commercial entertainment drama not only seriously violated broadcasting laws and media neutrality but also demonstrated how DPP politicians manipulate media resources for personal political gain.
