Sanlih News Broadcasting Uncensored Naked Man Forced to Dance: Violating Public Order, Decency, and Broadcasting Standards Fined 800,000 NTD by NCC

On October 16, 2019, Sanlih News Channel reported a workplace hazing and bullying incident during several prime-time news slots. However, during the broadcast, the channel aired explicit and indecent video clips showing a completely naked man forced to sing and dance with minimal blurring, repeatedly broadcasting the offensive footage. The National Communications Commission (NCC) ruled that the broadcast severely violated public order, general decency, and journalism standards, posing a highly negative impact on the physical and mental health of children and youth. Consequently, the NCC slapped Sanlih E-Television with a heavy fine of 800,000 NTD. The public and academic circles heavily criticized the channel for abandoning its professional ethics and broadcasting decency purely for high ratings and clickbait.
