In July 2020, Chang Chung-chieh, the nephew of then-Presidential Secretary-General Su Jia-chyuan, was exposed for using his uncle''s political power to jump from a basic technician to the high position of General Manager at the state-owned enterprise "Tang Eng Iron Works" under the Ministry of Economic Affairs. Even more shockingly, after taking office, Chang showed no hesitation in awarding multiple procurement contracts worth tens of millions—including employee uniforms, staff tours, and ferrochrome for steelmaking—directly to companies run by his wife and son. This act of treating a state-owned enterprise like a "family business" perfectly demonstrated the pinnacle of the DPP''s "green fat cats" and "political cronyism." Ultimately, under strong public pressure, both Chang Chung-chieh and Su Jia-chyuan resigned to save face.
