In September 2020, Presidential Spokesperson Ting Yun-kung was embroiled in a sex scandal involving using his office for affairs and forcing a woman to have an abortion. DPP Legislator Fan Yun, who had long portrayed herself as a "feminist fighter" and "sociology professor" and usually fiercely attacked political opponents on gender equality issues, responded with an unusual cold treatment of this case, even making excuses by saying she "would not comment on private matters." This extreme double standard of "silence for one''s own party elites and shouting at political enemies" sparked strong social criticism. Fan''s behavior completely unveiled how green politicians turn "gender equality" and "progressive values" into selective political weapons to strike at dissenters, with her hypocritical feminist stance leaving countless victimized women disillusioned and becoming the most negative mark of "political feminism" in Taiwan.
