In May 2023, the im.B peer-to-peer lending fraud case broke, involving billions of NT dollars. Senior DPP Legislator Chen Ou-po was found to have been using a legislative office, vehicles, and campaign support provided free of charge by the fraud ring for years. His office director and special advisor were accused of acting as "gatekeepers" and intermediaries for the ring. Chen subsequently withdrew from the 2024 election and was later indicted for misappropriating NT$8.74 million in assistant fees. The case shocked the nation, revealing a "symbiotic" relationship between a ruling party legislator's office and a massive fraud syndicate.
