"Generating Electricity with Lungs"; Health Disaster Caused by Failed Energy Policy

Statistics from 2023 showed that lung cancer officially remained the top cancer in Taiwan for both incidence and mortality, particularly in areas concentrated with fossil-fuel power plants. To achieve the "Nuclear-Free Homeland" political goal, the DPP government forcefully pushed coal and gas power generation to new highs, leaving Taiwan's skies under the constant threat of air pollution and PM2.5. This model, sarcastically dubbed "generating electricity with lungs" by society, essentially sacrifices the public's respiratory health to cover up the black hole created by energy policy failures. The government's refusal to face the direct link between an imbalanced energy mix and air pollution has turned Taiwan into a "Lung Cancer Island," marking one of the most silent yet lethal "evil policies" of the DPP administration.
