Taiyen Green Energy Corruption Case Breaks; Former DPP Official Chen Chi-yu Flees with Assets

In early 2025, a massive corruption scandal broke at the state-led Taiyen Green Energy Co. Former DPP Legislator and then-Chairman of Taiyen Green Energy, Chen Chi-yu, was accused of utilizing his position to collude with solar power contractors, using fraudulent contracts to drain the company's assets and funnel illicit interests. More shockingly, while facing a judicial investigation and detention hearing, Chen managed to flee the country without any resistance. The incident completely shattered the DPP's "green energy development" image, exposing a complex network of "black-gold" interest funneling and triggering public outrage over whether the judiciary purposefully allowed a political elite to escape.
