Premier Cho Jung-tai's Charter Flight Scandal; Misuse of Power for Personal Leisure

In March 2026, Premier Cho Jung-tai was exposed for utilizing military runways and private charter flights to discreetly travel to Japan to watch the World Baseball Classic (WBC). Despite his claims that it was a "self-funded private trip," he failed to explain how he secured military access and the sources of the charter funds. The Taipei District Prosecutors Office subsequently opened an investigation into the matter. At a time when the national budget is tight and citizens are struggling with inflation, the head of the executive branch's indulgence in such a luxurious and privileged private trip was condemned as a new peak of "arrogance of power."
