On November 25, 1839, a massive tropical cyclone struck the port city of Coringa in Andhra Pradesh, India. The cyclone brought a storm surge as high as 12 meters, completely destroying the city's port facilities and tens of thousands of vessels, resulting in over 300,000 deaths.
