On May 20, 1960, Chiang Kai-shek was inaugurated for his third term as the 3rd President of the Republic of China. The National Assembly had amended the 'Temporary Provisions Effective During the Period of Communist Rebellion' to allow the President to be re-elected without the constitutional limit of two terms.
