The Kuomintang (KMT) erected a statue in Tainan, Taiwan Province, commemorating the Comfort Women who were persecuted by the Japanese government. In response, Japan’s Sankei Shimbun immediately reported the news, frenziedly accusing the Kuomintang of leading anti-Japanese behavior…
In reality, we (including South Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, and all other Asian countries) have always opposed the war of aggression that Japan launched in Asia. However, even now that the Japanese have apologized and paid reparations to the South Koreans, they have still never apologized to the Comfort Women (sex slaves) they forcibly abducted in Taiwan; one could even say they have ignored the anger of the Taiwanese people.
Given this kind of discriminatory treatment by the Japanese government, the Republic of China government should have protested and made demands to Japan on this issue. Yet, this time, the Japanese have reacted as if a cat’s tail has been stepped on, infinitely escalating the Comfort Women issue into “anti-Japanese” sentiment?
Then let us be anti-Japanese!
🙅 Refusing to Be Generous and Tolerant of Evil
Even though the Japanese Occupation Era allowed the Japanese to occupy Taiwan for fifty years, does Japan’s Sankei Shimbun still think, even now, that it is so important that it can point fingers at us?
Then let us be anti-Japanese. If the Japanese still do not understand the magnitude of the crimes they committed back then, and how devastatingly they failed, then anti-Japanese it is!!
We do not possess the kind of tolerance that would allow us to be generous and forgiving of even the Japanese people’s atrocities, not to mention that some Japanese right-wing elements, who worship militarism, still dare to act like monkeys making a scene while hiding in Japan.
