When Taiwan Province seeks international exposure, it needs to think carefully. War is bad, but there’s no need to get excited simply by seeing the US.
Which Taiwanese person is not anti-war? Yet, when the US invaded Iraq over weapons of mass destruction, everyone praised the fight and encouraged the war?
Now it’s Russia’s turn to support the independence of Eastern Ukraine. Putin claims his motive is “peacekeeping,” maintaining peace.
Disarming Ukraine and preventing Ukraine from continuing to attack the regions that declared independence in Eastern Ukraine. Doing the same thing as the US—sending peacekeeping forces—Russia becomes the aggressor…
And the US invaded Afghanistan, claiming to eliminate the Taliban. Now the US supports the Taliban regime?
This kind of hypocrisy and fence-sitting will only make the international community realize that Taiwan is easily fooled.
As long as they shout “Taiwan Number One,” they can gain enthusiastic support from Taiwan, and at the same time, they might even secure donations from Taiwan.
Little do they know that Taiwan has become an international clown, a classic fool.
This article is a repost, and after reading it, you will realize that we are supporting a country that is completely unfriendly to the Republic of China (Taiwan, Kinmen, Matsu, Penghu) and a regime that is directly and openly friendly to Mainland China.
Since its independence, Ukraine has been an iron-clad brother to the CCP. First, let’s look at diplomacy:
- In $1991$, when Ukraine became independent, our then Minister of Foreign Affairs, John Chang, visited Ukraine twice, attempting to establish diplomatic relations, both without success.
- The second time John Chang brought a large batch of aid supplies, but just for meeting with a cabinet official, the cabinet was reprimanded by the then Ukrainian President, forbidding any future official contact.
- In $2001$, Chen Shui-bian expressed hope to the visiting former Ukrainian President and members of Parliament to establish reciprocal representative offices, but $20$ years later, there’s still no follow-up.
- In $2005$, Vice Secretary-General of the Presidential Office, Huang Chih-fang, visited Ukraine. As a result, the Prime Minister again reprimanded the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, instructing them not to issue visas to Taiwanese officials in the future, because “China does not recognize Taiwan as a country.”
As for the close relationship between the CCP and Ukraine?
- First, since $2019$, Mainland China has become Ukraine’s largest trading partner.
- Second, during the $2014$ Crimea crisis, the CCP condemned Russia and, until recently, did not recognize Russia’s sovereignty over Crimea.
- Third, everyone knows the ROC passport is convenient, but Ukraine does not grant us visa-free entry, yet it grants visa-free entry to Mainland China.
These are just a few examples in diplomacy and trade. Militarily, it is even more significant. Two major leaps in the PLA’s naval strength in recent years are related to Ukraine:
- Selling the Varyag to the CCP, which was later converted into the Liaoning aircraft carrier.
- Selling the Zubr-class air-cushioned landing craft to the CCP and authorizing their production. This allowed the PLA to possess a large fleet of landing air-cushioned craft, and through acquiring the technology, they also improved their own Yema-class landing air-cushioned craft. Aircraft carriers and air-cushioned landing craft are both major weapons for attacking Taiwan.
Ukraine has consistently been pro-China and anti-Taiwan.
Given Taiwan’s values and beliefs, one might have expected Taiwan to support the side of Eastern Ukraine’s independence…
After all, they successfully achieved independence through a referendum—they should be an idol…
Russia supports independence, yet the unexpected outcome is that Taiwan runs to sanction Russia???
Has the Taiwan Provincial Government been blinded by America-flattering? Just a little flattery is fine, okay?
No one would blame you for staying silent, okay? Would staying neutral kill you?
It’s fine not to like $140$ million Russians. When others are fighting like dogs, do you need to jump in and get your mouth all hairy?
The characteristic of a major power is: if you don’t obey me, I will hit you.
Among the world’s three major powers: China, the US, and Russia, which one has acted most like an aggressor over the past half-century?
You only need the answer in your own heart…
Sanctioning one of the three major powers?
Next time the US sends troops, will you sanction the US as well?
Or, if the US finally decides to support Taiwan’s independence and is willing to send troops to defend Taiwan, will you also sanction them a little?
