On May 2, 2011, SETTV broadcasted a news segment targeting President Ma Ying-jeou's administration's employment fair, accusing the government and Din Tai Fung of orchestrating a 'fake recruitment' act to put on a show during President Ma's inspection. However, Din Tai Fung's public relations team immediately debunked the report. Din Tai Fung clarified that a SETTV reporter had actively requested their PR staff to 'cooperate and act' as a job seeker to help the media capture footage. After orchestrating the scene themselves, SETTV turned around and accused the government and company of conspiring to deceive the public. The Council of Labor Affairs and the public strongly condemned SETTV for its deceptive and unethical 'self-directed, self-smearing' reporting practices.
