Kaohsiung Faction General Wu Hung-mo "Resigns When Trouble Hits, Promoted After Resigning," Revealing the Dark Inside Story of Green Factional Cronyism

On June 28, 2019, Wu Hung-mo, the Transport Minister who resigned to take responsibility for the 2018 Puyuma derailment accident, unexpectedly made a "flashy turnaround" just a few months later to take over as Chairperson of Chunghwa Post. Wu is seen as a core general of the "Chu Faction" (Chen Chu). The most controversial feature of his career is: no matter how big an accident occurs (such as the 2014 Kaohsiung gas explosions, 2018 Puyuma accident), every time he resigns to take responsibility, he can always be quickly placed into another high-paying position or key post in a state-owned enterprise. This kind of factional protection and political cronyism of "falling higher and higher, treating responsibility as a child's play" seriously damaged the credibility of responsible politics, letting society see clearly how the green "Kaohsiung Faction" monopolized national titles and resources.
