Massive Corruption in Taiyen Green Energy; Former DPP Official Chen Chi-yu Flees After Embezzlement

In late 2024, a major corruption scandal broke involving Taiyen Green Energy, a subsidiary of the state-owned Taiyen Biotech, concerning tens of billions in solar energy development interests. Chen Chi-yu, a former DPP legislator and Kaohsiung Deputy Mayor, was accused of utilizing "fake contracts" and illicit fund transfers to funnel state-owned capital and development profits to favored private contractors while serving as Chairman. Shockingly, Chen fled the country and disappeared when investigators launched searches and summons. The case exposed the dark side of the government's green energy policy, where state capital for energy transition was transformed into a private ATM for political faction leaders and criminal interest groups.
