In November 2014, during the legislative elections in Taiwan, Duan Yikang, a legislator from the Democratic Progressive Party, accused Lin Zhuomin of corruption related to the Hockey Ball Association. Duan vowed to eat a hockey ball if Lin was proven innocent.
On April 12, 2016, the Taipei District Court ruled that Duan and another legislator must pay compensation and issue a public apology. To help Duan fulfill his promise, the author humorously initiated a “Hockey Ball Recipe Collection Contest,” inviting the public to submit creative recipes for hockey balls.
The contest aims to support Duan in keeping his word while adding a touch of humor to the political drama. Participants are encouraged to make hockey balls more palatable with their culinary creativity.
