Regarding Mitsuo Ohashi, Chairman of the Japan-Taiwan Exchange Association, who criticized on the 29th:
“Taiwan’s ‘unfounded remarks’ about food from nuclear disaster areas hurt the Japanese people.”
TaiwanNext states:
“We also don’t know why your TEPCO (Tokyo Electric Power Company) created a bunch of man-made disasters during the 3.11 earthquake, causing nuclear disasters that harmed your own homeland. Now, the Japanese are aggressively demanding that we open our doors to the consequences you created. By what right??”
🚫 Import is Not a “Must”
We can believe in scientific data, and we can believe that the Fukushima food the government intends to import might be safe, but this absolutely does not mean we “must” or “definitely” have to import Fukushima food that may have concerns. This is not only our right as Taiwanese but also a form of scientific humility.
Furthermore, since the Japanese believe so much in Fukushima food, I firmly believe you can consume those products internally. Why don’t you export food from other Japanese regions to Taiwan in large quantities and then vigorously promote Fukushima food within your own country? I believe we Taiwanese would be more than happy with that!!
🗣 Dialogue between History and Reality
Mitsuo Ohashi, if you are willing to apologize to the Taiwanese people for the comfort women issue, then we will consider whether it is necessary to import your Fukushima nuclear disaster food. How about that? Otherwise, if the hearts of Fukushima people are hurt, so be it; you Japanese have hurt the hearts of all Taiwanese people.
Is it really impossible for us Taiwanese to even choose not to import questionable food?? Do we really have to look at the Japanese people’s expressions, at your expression, Mitsuo Ohashi??
