📜 1942 US “China’s War of Resistance” Commemorative Stamp
On July 8, the 31st year of the Republic of China (1942), while the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression was in full swing, T. V. Soong, the Foreign Minister of the Republic of China, personally went to the White House in the United States. Together with US President Roosevelt and US Postmaster General Frank Walker, they personally reviewed the newly issued 5-cent “China’s War of Resistance” commemorative stamp.
The design of this stamp contains important historical significance:
- Background Map: The background of the stamp is a map of Mainland China, Hainan Island, and Taiwan Island.
- Portraits: On the left is the portrait of US President Lincoln, and on the right is the portrait of Sun Yat-sen, the Founding Father of the Republic of China.
- National Emblem and Text: In the center is the national emblem “Blue Sky and White Sun,” with “Resistance and National Reconstruction” (Kang Zhan Jian Guo) written in Chinese above it.
The issuance of this stamp symbolized the alliance between China and the United States during the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression. 迫
