These past days, a particular issue has been developing on green media, originating from southern voices (really old hat), particularly directed by Chen Chu leading the Kaohsiung Municipal Government DPP caucus proposing yesterday (April 7) to “recommend” President Ma Ying-jeou must pardon Chen Shui-bian, who entered prison for crimes (currently on medical parole).

The Most Viciously Calculated Scheme Before DPP Took Power
DPP Legislative Yuan President Su Chia-chuan and Kaohsiung Municipal Government DPP caucus on April 7 proposed recommending President Ma Ying-jeou pardon Chen Shui-bian. Kaohsiung Mayor Chen Chu also expressed support on April 8, urging Ma Ying-jeou to demonstrate magnanimity, pardoning Chen Shui-bian before leaving office to break blue-green barriers and promote Taiwan social harmony.
I don’t understand how pardoning Chen Shui-bian promotes social harmony?
If the DPP is a political party with justice, it should demand Chen Shui-bian return all stolen money to the nation and apologize to society. The DPP would only achieve true social harmony this way.
Su Chia-chuan, Chen Chu, and Lü Hsiu-lien repeatedly urging President Ma Ying-jeou to pardon Chen Shui-bian before May 20 is nothing but the DPP’s most vicious scheme. Clearly knowing President Ma Ying-jeou maintained not interfering with judiciary throughout his eight years, now hoping Ma would pardon Chen Shui-bian before Tsai Ing-wen took office further demonstrated the DPP’s viciousness, hoping President Ma Ying-jeou would leave office in the ugliest scandal possible, causing society to misunderstand, thinking “though Ma imprisoned Chen Shui-bian, before leaving office realizing his mistake, so he pardoned innocent Chen Shui-bian.”
If Su Chia-chuan, Chen Chu, Lü Hsiu-lien and the DPP hoped so, couldn’t they wait another month for Tsai Ing-wen taking office, reserving this honor of pardoning Chen Shui-bian for Tsai Ing-wen instead? Wouldn’t that be even better?
