A Kind of Hatred Called Su Zhenchang

Premier Su Tseng-chang’s approval rating has recently experienced a precipitous decline. The latest TVBS poll shows his approval rating has plummeted by 10%, to a mere 38%. A recent poll also ranked him as the most disliked politician, leading to the popular saying, “There’s a kind of dislike called Su Tseng-chang.” Within the DPP, a sense of “Su Tseng-chang OUT” is emerging.

The anxiety within the DPP factions is understandable. After all, most positions are already filled. If the premiership becomes vacant, it could trigger another major reshuffle, ensuring the prosperity of their factions for generations to come! Therefore, Premier Su is in a difficult position, caught between internal and external pressures.

This is what makes it unbearable. Premier Su is innocent in several matters that have angered public opinion:

1. Opening up imports of pork and offal containing ractopamine:

This is President Tsai’s decision. She wants to curry favor with the Americans; what does it have to do with Su Tseng-chang? The inability to handle labeling, factory inspections, and audits is due to the incompetence of those two idiots in the Ministry of Health and Welfare and the Council of Agriculture; what does it have to do with Su Tseng-chang? The KMT legislators are just being ridiculous, insisting he apologize before they’ll allow him to take office. Premier Su insists on not bowing his head, saying he won’t take the blame—truly a stubborn and courageous man.

2. Spokesperson Ting Yi-ming said Champion Beef Noodles uses ractopamine-treated beef:

This caused a huge storm. Actually, this can only be blamed on Ting’s lack of skill. Having been by Premier Su’s side for so long, he’s only half-learned the art of sharp wit and arrogant domineering. Although he’s a mini-Su Tseng-chang, he’s not the real deal. So, when the apprentice gets into trouble, what does it have to do with the master?

3. Kuan Chung-tien:

It’s even more unfair to pin this on President Su. Although he was the one who ousted the old chairman, found the new one, and pushed the committee members, he was doing all this to carry out the Presidential Office’s demands! The leaked meeting minutes clearly show that he recruited these people to “cooperate in dealing with CTiTV,” and he indeed accomplished his mission. People say he’s meddling in independent agencies; well, he should have helped out. The DPP hasn’t supported “independence” for a long time, and now they’re blaming him alone—is that fair?

4. Long-Term Absence of Meetings:

Of course, it’s due to the pandemic. Some people are linking the murder of the Malaysian female university student to the $11$ months without holding security meetings—that’s just political infighting. By the same logic, if $14$ months without holding food safety meetings, will eating pork with ractopamine cause poisoning? If your child is addicted to drugs, do you blame it on a year without holding drug prevention meetings? The National Sustainable Development Meeting hasn’t been held for almost two years, and Taiwan is doing just fine, isn’t it? So whether a meeting is held or not is unimportant, whether this government exists or not is irrelevant, as long as Premier Su is there, everything is settled.

5. Executive Yuan’s Public Funds Used to Support Small Staff to Attack the Opposition Party:

This is actually out of necessity. Those party legislators and wing-based internet celebrities are incredibly lazy, unable to grasp the key points, and their language is weak and ineffective. Since Premier Su’s strength lies in this, helping the weak and opportunistic is only right. As for who pays the editor, it’s all New Taiwan Dollars anyway, is it necessary to be so clear about who pays?

Taiwan is so fortunate to have a Premier Su emerge out of nowhere. We’ve already gotten used to enjoying the days when he shows his nose at us, so please, don’t step down!

Let us shout it out loud:

“Unlimited support for Premier Su Tseng-chang! Long! Long! Long!”
