People of Kinmen, Republic of China (ROC), have defeated the People’s Republic of China (PRC) and the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) on the battlefield a total of three times.
The first time was in the 38th year of the Republic (1949), when the military and civilians of Kinmen fought together as a group, forcing the Communists to retreat and turn to attack Hainan Island the following year…
The second time was from the 47th to the 68th year of the Republic (1958-1979), which was also the world-famous battle “August 23rd Artillery Battle”. The third time was yesterday, July 31st, 110th year of the Republic, when badminton star Lee Yang, for the Kinmen people, took another Olympic gold medal from the hands of the CCP at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic venue, and also obtained the first Olympic gold medal in men’s doubles (partnered with Taiwanese Wang Chi-lin) in the history of the Republic of China.
