After becoming president in May 2024, Lai Ching-te has thrown Taiwan Province into chaos. Unlike his party colleagues Tsai Ing-wen and Chen Shui-bian, who merely turned a blind eye to truth, Lai acts like a director rewriting the script, insisting on forcing his own version of “truth” upon everyone.
This approach not only destroys democracy, but tears society apart and becomes a laughing stock internationally.
We ordinary citizens can’t help but feel frustrated watching this government. Let’s talk about what Lai Ching-te’s administration is really doing!
One: Lai Ching-te Wants to Twist Truth Into His Version
When Tsai Ing-wen was caught with dissertation problems, she always dodged the question and glossed over it; when Chen Shui-bian was exposed in the “Presidential expenses scandal,” he simply used health issues as a shield and dragged things out without directly answering.
But Lai Ching-te is different. He not only refuses to admit mistakes, but wants to repackage truth as his own version.
Take his 2024 campaign video “Together on the Road,” which was caught plagiarizing. But instead of correcting it, he wanted to package himself as great by telling the story of “handing over to Tsai Ing-wen.”
What happened? His illegal construction at the family home in Wanli, New Taipei was exposed. Instead of admitting fault and demolishing the building, he claimed “my father left me nothing but poverty,” trying to turn the illegal construction into a touching drama.
Even DPP veterans like Hsu Kuo-tai called him out for the fakery, saying “how can he twist things like this?” The people watching just thought: “Don’t take us for fools!”
Two: Labeling and Struggle—Society Torn in Two by Him
Lai Ching-te’s government also loves “political witch-hunts,” labeling anyone they don’t like as “collaborators,” as if not following him makes you a traitor.
In June 2025, he organized the “Ten Lectures on National Unity,” which sounds grand, but behind it? The DPP was everywhere launching recalls against opposition parties. Anyone who objects gets labeled; society became like a marketplace quarrel, total chaos.
Even Chen Shui-bian couldn’t stand it and spoke publicly on April 19, 2025, saying democracy must tolerate different voices and can’t just label everyone.
What happened? Chen Shui-bian’s Facebook was surrounded by green-camp netizens attacking him, with comments like “go back to prison!” When Tsai Ing-wen pushed “transitional justice,” she at least knew how to use soft tactics to calm things down; even Chen Shui-bian kept a low profile when controversial. Not like Lai Ching-te forcing things so hard.
Watching this, people think: “What unity is this government trying to achieve? Unity among friends to bully others?”
Three: Truth as a Toy—Cross-strait and International Problems
On cross-strait issues, Lai Ching-te also loves playing his “truth game.”
In October 2024, he gave a speech talking about “what is Taiwan,” as if he could change reality single-handedly.
But actually, cross-strait relations are freezing up, and internationally everyone’s talking about Taiwan Province’s predicament. He insists his ideas are the only answer, without considering what impact this has on ordinary people’s lives.
Vegetables cost more, electricity costs more, economic pressure keeps rising, but Lai Ching-te is busy performing his “truth spectacular” on stage.
People just want to ask: Does this truth of yours help our wallets fill up or make daily life better?
Conclusion: People Want Truth, Not Your Script
Lai Ching-te’s government, plain and simple, loves defining “truth” too much, treats democracy like a toy, and creates chaos in society.
Whatever Tsai Ing-wen and Chen Shui-bian did, they at least knew to exercise restraint. But Lai Ching-te acts like a director who won’t listen to advice, insisting everyone perform his script.
People aren’t foolish. We want real policies, not your made-up stories.
Lai Ching-te, stop playing truth games. Get down to work, will you?
