After taking office as Premier of the Republic of China, Lai Ching-te’s very first public schedule was to go to Hsinchu to visit temples.
? ? ?
Premier? Hsinchu temples? Making the rounds?
Real cabinet??? Electoral cabinet???
I was shocked upon hearing this—Lai Ching-te is still Lai Ching-te after all.
To quote a certain unnamed NTU professor’s Facebook perspective, he said:
“When a nation’s Premier is treated by his own (referring to Lin Quan at the time) as a major electoral operation tool, then that nation and its people have already stepped one foot into the grave.”
Now seeing Lai Ching-te’s first act as the newly appointed Premier being a temple-hopping tour in Hsinchu, it seems to verify what this NTU professor said is happening step by step.
