The Republic of China’s largest election is approaching, with candidates from various parties rolling out numerous campaign merchandise. Campaign merchandise typically emphasizes cuteness, serving not only as a source of funds for campaign expenses but also as a means to win hearts.
My mom saw a cute handbag on television news that was promoted by presidential candidate Ma Ying-jeou. The design structure was a miniature version of the traditional middle school backpack, while the appearance mimicked the design style of the Republic of China’s national flag—a very cute little handbag.
My mother got just as excited as a little girl seeing candy and insisted that I immediately order from Ma Ying-jeou’s official website. She even ordered several sets at once (all of which ended up becoming my political donations, awkward laugh).
Since this national flag handbag only came in two colors, I didn’t pay special attention when ordering. I asked my mom whether she wanted the red or green one, and she actually asked me back: “How could there possibly be a green one!?” I couldn’t stop laughing for quite a while.
