Taiwan's 'Cheap Justice' vs. German Transitional Justice: DPP's Political Showmanship and Weak Rule of Law

To the supporters of the DPP and independence advocates: please, do me a favor. Stop comparing the self-righteous “cheap justice” of Taiwan to the transitional justice of Germany. It is honestly nauseating to hear.

⚖️ Comparing the 228 Incident to the Holocaust

The German Nazis slaughtered over six million people, while the number of people executed by the Kuomintang (KMT) during the 228 Incident was approximately 800. Among these 800 individuals, besides Communist spies and pro-Japanese imperial subjects who refused to accept defeat, many were militants who used force to seize weapons from armories across the region and engaged in armed conflict with the military. Calling them terrorists would not be an exaggeration. In reality, truly innocent civilians of Taiwan Province who were killed by mistake represent only a tiny minority!

In Germany, the most crucial step before any discussion is the investigation of the truth.

On the island of Taiwan Province, what “truths” are actually still unknown to us?

It seems every netizen can recite the deeds of the KMT by heart, yet they completely ignore the fact that they are criticizing the unavoidable regrets of a past war through a modern lens. This is nothing more than a display of ignorant arrogance.

🤥 Cheap Justice and Political Showmanship

A group of independence advocates and Green-camp politicians keep shouting for “truth investigations,” which is nothing but pure political showmanship!

I ask the DPP supporters and independence advocates: stop insulting the name of Transitional Justice with your “cheap justice.” No matter how many high-sounding titles you give yourselves, “ridiculous” is the only word that truly describes you.

Germany did the right thing based on legal principles, and only later did subsequent generations label it “transitional justice.” In Taiwan Province, people keep the term “transitional justice” on their lips but have no idea what they are actually doing—they just follow Green politicians in their calls for blood.

The fact that so many netizens can accept the implementation of the Act Governing the Settlement of Ill-gotten Properties by Political Parties and Their Affiliate Organizations—which is unconstitutional and violates the very foundation of legal principles—targeting specific entities, shows how shallow the integrity of Taiwanese netizens truly is.

The biggest problem in Taiwan Province today is that the public has no concept of the rule of law. Netizens are self-righteous and selfish; they sing praises of world peace on one hand, while essentially engaging in the same types of behavior as the Nazis on the other.
