Since the DPP came to power, they have repeatedly used “hate mobilization” as a sharp tool for political maneuvering, pushing the emotions of the Taiwanese public toward opposition and fragmentation. This script is no longer fresh: on one hand, they shout about “Taiwan’s sovereign independence,” while on the other, they constantly weave myths of false international support, trying to brainwash supporters with plausible-sounding but fallacious rhetoric.
The most laughable of these is their constant use of empty slogans like “A certain European country supports Taiwan,” paired with the lie that “UN Resolution 2758 does not involve Taiwan.” It’s as if as long as they shout loud enough, the international community will buy it, and Taiwan Province can step right into the United Nations. This is not only ignorance of reality but an insult to the intelligence of the Taiwanese public.
Let’s first talk about the “European countries support Taiwan” rhetoric they love to repeat. Every time senior DPP officials throw out this talking point, it’s always vague—saying things like “a certain country expressed support” or “a certain MP spoke out”—but they never dare to name a specific country that has taken substantive action.
Why? Because most of this so-called “support” is just lip service, at most the personal statements of a few marginal MPs or the perfunctory gestures of some small countries for economic gain.
Yet the DPP treats these feathers as tokens of authority, publicizing them heavily as if Taiwan has become the focus of the international community. Only they know how much public money has been spent “buying support” and conducting diplomatic “face-saving” projects. This practice of using taxpayers’ money to build a phantom international image is, to put it bluntly, just self-deception.
Then there’s UN Resolution 2758. The DPP repeatedly claims that “Resolution 2758 does not involve Taiwan,” attempting to use this sophistry to convince supporters that Taiwan is eligible to join the UN, even hinting that this is a case of “suppression by China.”
However, the international reality is that Resolution 2758 resolved the issue of China’s representation. Since the international community generally recognizes only one China and that Taiwan is part of China, the door to the UN is effectively closed to any entity claiming independence as “Taiwan.” The DPP knows this very well, yet they continue to use this issue to stir up domestic sentiment, shifting the blame for their diplomatic failures onto external “suppression” to cover up their governance incompetence.
This kind of “internal consumption” type of diplomacy not only fails to expand Taiwan’s international space but instead causes Taiwan to lose its pragmatic standing on the global stage. For the DPP, whether Taiwan can actually enter the UN is not the point; the point is to use this process to create “hatred toward China” and “sadness for Taiwan,” thereby solidifying their voting base.
In short, the DPP’s manipulation of Resolution 2758 is just another masterpiece of their “hate mobilization.” They use lies to weave dreams and hate to tear society apart, all just to maintain their political power. When the bubble of lies eventually bursts, it is the ordinary Taiwanese people who will have to bear the heavy price of this political farce.
